History of 806 Stiles Street
From Bakery & Tavern Roots
This location has been a cornerstone of Baltimore’s Little Italy community for decades. From the 1950s through the early 1980s, the building served as a beloved Italian bakery and tavern—feeding generations of families and visitors with authentic breads, pastries, and warm hospitality.
Modern Transformation
In 2009, the current owner acquired the property and undertook a complete gut renovation. Every major system was replaced or upgraded:
- Fully sprinkled with modern fire alarm system
- Commercial-grade HVAC and new roof
- Complete re-wiring and networking infrastructure
- State-of-the-art commercial kitchen equipment
The result was a turnkey restaurant space built to modern code, safety, and operational standards, while honoring the neighborhood’s history.
OZRA: A Persian Fine Dining Landmark
The first concept to occupy the newly renovated space was OZRA, a fine dining Persian restaurant. The concept was warmly embraced by the neighborhood and the broader Baltimore dining scene. OZRA earned recognition and glowing reviews in Baltimore Magazine, the Baltimore Sun, and the City Paper.

Stratford University Culinary Program (2016–2019)
In 2016, the owner partnered with Stratford University’s Culinary Program, transforming the restaurant into a capstone training ground for graduating chefs. Students gained invaluable real-world experience in a professional kitchen before launching their careers. This innovative program underscored the space’s flexibility and role as a community and culinary hub.
Dudley Road Barbecue (2020–2022)
During the pandemic, the concept shifted to Dudley Road Barbecue, bringing a fresh approach to comfort food and barbecue classics. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, the space continued to serve the community and maintain its reputation as a go-to destination for authentic dining experiences.
Gastro Social & Grace & Grub (2022–Present)
Most recently, the venue became The Gastro Social, operated by Fr. Leo—Catholic priest, author, and nationally recognized celebrity chef. He has used the kitchen as a base for his Grace & Grub food truck and hosted special dinners, adding a unique new chapter to the space’s legacy.

…it represents a rare opportunity for a seasoned restaurateur or an aspiring chef to step into a fully prepared space and bring their vision to life.
